business intelligence for beginners: what is DataMining?In the ’90s, and there the DataWarehouse, banks and utilities developed another branch of Business Intelligence: the “data mining” or DataMining (DM).

Basically, this tool provides answers to questions that were never made. Historical data properly stored and purified, the application of statistical methodologies can “dig” from information to detect patterns.

In a previous article, we saw that the DataWarehouse recorded multiple transactions with the customer, what you purchased, you claim, you asked, when they received, etc. Essentially concentrated historical information that records what happened in the company for the past.

However, based on historical data, the DataMining focuses on the future. Known certain patterns of past behavior can predict with high degree of certainty, the demand for a product, the consumer segment of another customer at risk, etc.. (more…)
